Questions and answers
Short answers to what people ask us first.
Do I need a referral?
In California, you can see a physical therapist without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one. Call us with your plan card and we will check before you book.
Will I need an internal exam?
Only if you want one, and never at a first visit by default. We explain what it is, ask before each step, and stop the moment you say so. Many evaluations are a conversation and a look at how you move.
Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?
We bill many kinds of plans, including most PPO plans, Medicare, workers' compensation and auto injury coverage. Your plan decides what it pays. We check your benefits and call you before your first visit.
What if I pay myself?
We give you a written estimate before your first visit, and you pay for each visit on the day. If your plan may reimburse you, we give you a detailed receipt to send in. Your plan decides whether it pays.
How long is a visit, and who treats me?
Your first visit is about an hour with a physical therapist, in a private room. Later visits can be shorter. You see the same therapist, and you can ask for a particular one.
What should I wear and bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Bring your plan card, a list of your medicines if you like, and any questions, written down or not. Come to a class in whatever you wear to exercise.
Do I have to join a class?
No. Many people come for an evaluation and a plan and nothing more. The classes are there if you want to keep moving with the same people.
Is anything I say private?
Yes. We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. You choose how much to tell us, and when.
Do you offer video visits?
Some follow-up visits can be by video for people in California. We tell you which when you book.
What if my problem came from work or a car accident?
Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care, and the front desk checks what your claim needs before your first visit.
Will it hurt?
We work within what you can tolerate. Some movements can be uncomfortable. Tell us, and we change what we are doing.
